FAQs
How does Chiropractic work?
Chiropractors examine your spine and musculoskeletal system and detect vertebral subluxations, or spinal misalignments and restore function to these joints with manual adjustments. This restores normal movement to the joint taking pressure off the nerves allowing your brain and your body to communicate fully. When there is pressure on the nerves this can result in referred pain, muscle spasm or weakness. These small adjustments can not only relieve pain but help your body function at a higher level meaning you live a pain free, healthier life.
Will It Hurt?
The adjustments themselves don’t hurt. Sometimes if a joint is particularly stiff, it can feel a little uncomfortable at first – but this is short lived. Very occasionally, people find some mild discomfort for a day or so after treatment. Just like how you’d feel after a good gym session! Most of our clients experience a lightness straight away.
Who can see a Chiropractor?
Everyone! The youngest patient we’ve seen so far has been 5 days old and the eldest of 93 years! We always tailor your treatment to suit you, making it safe and comfortable for everyone.
Do I need to have x-rays?
Not necessarily. We don’t have on site x-ray facilities, but we work closely with a centre in central London who will carry out x-rays or an MRI if needed. If you have had x-rays or an MRI taken in the past then please bring them with you.
Do I need to have x-rays?
During your initial consultation, we will sit down together and have a chat. We want to know what bought you to us in the first place. We’ve found over the years that the reasons people seek our help is endless! We’ll then go through your past medical history, find out about any medications you might be taking, any car accidents you might have had – all of this helps us build a picture of your over all health, and will influence your care plan. Next we’ll do a thorough exam, don’t worry it’s nothing invasive. We will do an accurate postural assessment, carry out orthopaedic and neurological tests, palate your spine and feel for restrictions in your spine. We will carry out specific chiropractic vital signs test to get a clear picture of how your body is functioning.
Will I have a treatment on my initial appointment?
We don’t tend to provide care on your first appointment – we have found that it can all a bit too much to take in. Our clients get much better results when we separate your first appointment from your Report of Findings and First Adjustment. It also gives us time to go over your case and tailor and individual care plan, specific to you. You’re Report of findings and First Adjustment is usually carried out the day after your Initial Consultation.
What do I need to wear?
Whatever you like! We’re not the judgemental type! We don’t need you to take any clothes off, don’t worry there’s no dodgy hospital gowns involved. We simply ask you to take your shoes, belts, jewellery, and any heavy coats or jumpers off. Loose fitting clothes are easier, but not essential.
How do I pay?
We accept card payment only Visa and Mastercard. We are registered with most insurance companies, please check when booking your appointment about the procedure involved.
